Hidden Gems of Jodhpur on a Budget - Royal Rajasthan

Everything You’ll Ever Know About Hidden Places of Jodhpur

Jodhpur (also known as Suncity or Blue City) is a megacity in Rajasthan, India. A city known for its rich culture and heritage has a lot of undiscovered places too. These are the places that are frequently missed by excursionists.

Jodhpur has a lot of step-wells

Toor Ji ka Jhalra is the one that is frequently visited by excursionists, but Mahilabaag ka Jhalra is frequently missed. Both have numerous cafes and Havelis around them and give a magnificent view of Mehrangarh.

Siddhnath Shiv Temple

It is located near Kaylana Lake, between the Takhat Sagar Hills. Sculpted out of hills, this tabernacle is a less well-known place in Jodhpur.

Bheem Bhadak Temple

It is a deep tabernacle present in the military radar area of Jodhpur. Feed the monkeys, climb to the top of the delve, and take in the scenery of Jodhpur! One needs to carry proper ID cards to pay a visit to this tabernacle.

One might have visited Umaid Bhawan Palace and explored its beautiful air, but the twilight scene from the backside of the palace is a view that cannot be missed! Also, you got to see "Chhatariyan" present there near Hanwant Palace.

Osian's sand dunes

These are no lower than those of Jaisalmer. Osian is a small city that is around 70 km from Jodhpur, notorious for its major tabernacles. Osian's "Ret ke dhore" is still not as popular as Jaisalmer's "Sam ke dhore".

Santoshi Mata Temple

It is one of the many undiscovered places in Jodhpur. You will not find its name anywhere. It's a delve tabernacle where you can find the steps of Goddess Santoshi inside. The nearby hills and Lal Sagar Lake add to the beauty of this tabernacle. A strange thing you can find then is a tree which has leaves of neem as well as peepal.

Still, there are numerous falls in the nearby hills, at places like Arna Jharna and Kadamkandi, if you visit during showers. These places are unexplored by excursionists.

An artificial lake in the army area of Jodhpur is a beautiful place to visit, but commoners aren't allowed. However, it may be easy for you to go there if you belong to a defense background. Also, there is a Shaheed Smarak in that area which is less given.

Other than Mehrangarh, there are other castles like Luni Fort, Khejarla Fort, and Khimsar Fort, which are many kilometers away from Jodhpur. These castles show the history of Rajasthan and are also good places to spend some tardy time.

The tabernacles like Ganesh Mandir, Ravan ka Mandir (Fun Fact-Ravan is Jodhpur's Jamayi sa (Son-in-law), and this is his only tabernacle in India), Ishqiya Ganesh Mandir, and Mandalnath Temple are worth visiting.

Whenever you visit, there will be some sort of celebration going on, so try to attend the festivals. Popular fests are Gangaur Pooja in the month of March, Teej Pooja in August, Fagotsav in March, Ramdev Mela in September, Sheetla Mata Mela in March, and Rajasthan International Folk Festival.
