The History Of Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur

In an attempt to get relieved of the curse and assuage the hermit, Rao Jodha erected a tabernacle and a house for him within the stronghold. There are other stories around the process followed by the king to reduce the effect of the curse. Some say that he buried alive a common man named Raja Ram Meghwal in the stronghold’s foundation to abate the impact of the curse. Since the man agreed to give up on his life, the king promised to take care of his family throughout their life.
Mehrangarh Fort Architecture
Paying an ode to the Rajputana majesty and their architectural brilliance, the Mehrangarh stronghold boasts of a history of over 550 times.
There are seven gates that serve as an entrance to the stronghold. Each of these gates was made by different autocrats during their reign and represented the honor of their palm over the Bikaner and Jaipur armies. The stronghold’s structure was erected over a period of 5 centuries, starting from the medial 15th century to the late 20th century. This, in turn, redounded in the architectural influences from different ages, giving it a unique charm.
Farther, the entire structure is girdled by walls that are 117 bases long and 70 bases wide. At some places, the walls rise up to a height of 120 bases, which enhances the beauty of the overall structure. Daulat Khana As the name suggests, this gallery has some of the splendid treasures of the stronghold, including many of the Great Akbar.
Turban The gallery has several different kinds of turbans used in the typical Rajasthani tradition while dressing up.
Oils The gallery has on display a fine collection of oils and artwork from history.
Textile The gallery has a fine collection of carpets, tents, roof walls, garments, bottom- spreads, and other cloth pieces from different ages.
Sileh Khana Sileh means arms and hence, the gallery has a collection of arms and security used by the Rajputana during the war. A major magnet of the gallery is the 7 pounds brand used by Akbar and Taimur.
Wood Craft As the name suggests, it displays different types of artifacts made of wood and decorated with gold and ivory polish.
